Last year Corona Corporate Solutions were invited to sponsor one of our valued clients, VMI, in two bikes rides they were organising in aid of the landmine charity MAG (Mines Advisory Group).

So when we were approached this year for sponsorship, we were more than happy to jump on the bike again.

The first ‘Superheroes’ ride, a 14 hour 223km journey from London to Bristol, was completed last weekend.

Barry Bassett, Managing Director of VMI commented:

This was a superb ride from Central London to Bristol across tow paths and quiet road across beautiful countryside over a super-hot couple of days.

The weather was HOT, and the tow paths extremely dry and bumpy so this was a particularly challenging 2 day ride, since so much of the ride was not on smooth roads and this took its toll on our riders.

The first day of 103km (64 miles), we ended at a campsite near Newbury and enjoyed an relaxing evening of barbeque and beers courtesy of Jay and Chau in the support team.  This is a camping place which also supported our ride with subsidised pitch (Oakley Farm Caravan Park), where we camped overnight.  The next morning, we completed the lightly longer leg of 120km (75 miles) and upon arrival in Bristol, as per usual, Jon and Sarah from VMI Bristol put on a most excellent celebratory arriving party complete with BBQ, beers, bunting and formula 1 flags and a welcome rest.

The second ride, scheduled for 11-12 September, is London to Amsterdam, which is a 257 mile trip.

Every day 18 people are maimed or killed by landmines. The tragedy is that mostly this affects children, who are just playing. These innocent lives are taken away or changed forever.

MAG has removed more than 4.7 million landmines and unexploded items.

We are proud to once again be able to support this great cause and to have our logo on the cycle jerseys.

VMI have set themselves the ambitious target of £20,000 this year £10k more than last year! This fantastic team need all the help they can get and if you you’d like to sponsor, please see the link below to their dedicated JustGiving page.

Congratulations Hero’s – We wish you a safe and successful ride in September!
