On 10 March 2017, BT notified Ofcom of voluntary commitments to further reform Openreach. The plan is for Openreach to become a distinct company, legally separate from BT, with its own staff, management, purpose and strategy.
Ofcom has today announced how the success of the new Openreach will be measured and monitored to ensure it delivers better phone and broadband services for users.
Also covered in the announcement is how Ofcom will monitor compliance by BT and Openreach, something it sees as a critical part of this project, and an explanation as to why they feel BT’s Commitments should address their competition concerns.
