It has been some time now since BT announced the withdrawal of ISDN services which is due to take place in the second half of 2025.
Whilst 8 years may seem a long time for ISDN customers to migrate to other available technologies, it is almost certain that, with reducing investment and engineering training in ISDN technology, customer service and reliability will lessen over this time which in turn will lead to delays in network faults being resolved and increased customer frustration.
Replacements to ISDN have been available for over a decade now and many businesses have welcomed SIP technology and hosted (otherwise known as ‘cloud’) telephone systems to not only futureproof their communications but also to offer more flexibility for both disaster recovery and remote/ home working.
